This quick and easy Easter Goody Bag is perfect for Easter baskets and can also be used to liven up place settings at the Easter dinner table. The small size is ideal for children's hands and perfect for jelly beans or candy corn!
First, gather your supplies.
You will need:
- Construction Paper
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Craft felt – white & peach or pink
- Embroidery Thread – brown & white
- Craft Needle
- Craft Glue
- Pins
- Paper Punch
- Blush
- Printed Ribbon – peach or pink
Using the construction paper and pencil, draw a square approximately 3 1/2” wide by 4” tall. Top the square with two floppy bunny ears. The total height of my sketch was about 8". The point is not to draw perfectly. The ears I drew looked totally different from each other and I loved how it looked at the end of the project. Inside the box, sketch the bunny's face. This will be your guide when stitching the face later on. I think eyes are hard to draw, so I chose to have my bunny's eyes closed. Cut out your pattern.
Trace your pattern twice onto the white felt and carefully cut the pieces out. On one of the cut-outs, lightly draw your bunny face using your paper pattern as a guide. Cut a small triangle nose out of the peach felt, and set aside.
Cut the felt pieces according to your paper pattern.
Using the brown embroidery thread and a running stitch, stitch the face of your bunny using the penciled-in guidelines. Not sure how to do a running stitch? Check out this guide at The American Felt and Craft blog. Once the face is stitched, attached the peach triangle nose using a dot of craft glue. Use your finger to apply a bit of blush to rosy those cheeks!
Stitch the face using your guidelines and add the nose using a dot of craft glue.
Pin the two white cut-outs together (with the stitched face facing out). Use a running stitch once again to stitch the two pieces together around the outside edge. Leave the space between the two ears open.
You're almost finished!
To complete the Bunny Goody Bag, punch 4 holes at the top opening with the paper punch (2 in the back, 2 in the front). Once the bag has been filled, ribbon can easily be pulled through and tied to secure the opening.
Ribbon is easily threaded through the paper punched holes.
This project is super easy to change up in order to create other fun shapes and characters for any holiday or theme. I used two orange felt triangles to create a carrot with a green leafy top using the same materials listed above.
