Self-knitted guest hand towels for bathroom is yet another knitting project that is perfect for beginners. Guest towels for powder room are quick to make and look highly decorative in your bathroom. Use 100% cotton to make sure that the towel is soft and absorbent.
Knitted guest towels for your bathroom are eye-catching and a nice welcoming touch for your guests.
What yarn should you use to knit guest hand towels for bathroom?
We recommend using 100% cotton for knitting personalized guest towels. It is best to use a smooth cotton yarn that will not pill.
What is the ideal guest towel size?
The ideal guest towel size is 12” x 20” (30 x 50 cm). But square 10” x 10” (24 x 24 cm) or 12” x 12” (30 × 30 cm) towels are also quite popular with knitters.
TIP: If you are knitting more than one guest hand towel you might want to use a different color for each but still make sure that they all go with your overall bathroom color scheme.
Materials for knitting guest towels for powder room
- Cotton yarn 80 m / 50 g
- Knitting needles size 2.5
- Custom logo label
Size
10’ x 10” (24 x 24 cm)
Tension sample
22 stitches and 22 rows equal 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm).
Cast on 55 stitches.
Knit the first 8 rows in seed stitch (also called moss stitch): alternate knit 1, purl 1, then in the next row you will knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches. We will be using this pattern to create a frame around the edges. Starting from the 9th row, use the seed stitch for the first and last five stitches of every row. Everything else will be knitted and purled to create fancy patterns: hearts, flowers, birds and other animals - anything goes!
We have a couple of ideas for you to personalize your guest towels.
Legend:
◻ knit

1. Cat pattern
2. Heart pattern
Work the last 8 rows in seed stitch to finish the edging and then cast off.
Finish by sewing your custom logo label onto each guest hand towel. At Wunderlabel, you'll find labels with various foldings. Read more how to attach the folded labels in the post "How to Attach Folded Labels.
TIP:
Instead of using a label to hang your guest hand towel you can also crochet a matching hanger loop. Find out how to crochet a loop for a guest hand towel in our video tutorial:
