Production of Custom Clothing Labels

Production of Custom Clothing Labels

The production of clothing labels, such as care labels, brand labels and other custom labels, plays an essential role in the world of fashion. As an experienced clothing label manufacturer, Wunderlabel pays the utmost attention to every step of the production process to ensure that each custom label meets high standards. In this article we will talk about what happens behind the scenes after you order custom clothing labels and detail how personalized labels are created.

Design Customization and Material Selection for Clothing Labels

Wunderlabel produces both iron-on and sewing labels for clothing items. Our selection of clothing labels includes woven labels and printed labels, as well as heat transfer labels (DTF) and leather patches (faux and real leather). All our labels and tags can be used to display care instructions, country of origin, material composition and any other information you think is relevant to the clothing. Simply enter the text online or upload your artwork or a design that reflects your brand identity. We are able to offer low minimum order quantities, ideal for individuals, budding fashion brands and small businesses.

Once you have decided on the right type of label for you, selected the perfect customization options and created the label layout, your order is sent to our production team. Our graphic designers edit the clothing label design to meet the specifications of the printing or weaving machine.

The materials we use for our fabric labels include cotton, satin, recycled polyester and Tyvek. Each has different characteristics. Cotton clothing labels are soft and flexible. Satin gives labels an elegant sheen. Polyester offers durability and color fastness, while Tyvek is waterproof. Choosing the right material is critical to the aesthetics, functionality and durability of the labels. Make sure to check the washing instructions for your chosen label material and that it is suitable for your garments.

The Production Process of Professional Quality Custom Clothing Tags

All our garment labels are customizable and made to order. Our specialist staff plan and execute every step of the clothing label production process with precision. Much has changed in this process over the course of history due to new technologies and different customer requirements. The production process differs depending on the type of label. The choice of method depends on the budget, desired appearance, application and quality.

Our custom woven labels are not embroidered, instead the recycled polyester thread is woven into the desired pattern or logo using a damask weaving technique. The customer's yarn selection (up to 6 colors) has to be loaded onto the weaving machine first. Technical knowledge and craftsmanship are required to achieve a good result with damask woven labels.

Printing custom labels for clothing is quicker and more cost-effective. There are various printing techniques for customizing labels, such as flexographic, digital and thermal transfer. Each technique has its own advantages, but they all print clear and precise logos, text or graphics and achieve vibrant colors.  Flexo is good for short runs, while thermal transfer is good for medium to long runs. Digital printing is cost effective and excellent for long runs.

Next comes the cutting process. High-precision cutting machines cut the labels to the required size and shape. Some are laser cut. Lasers are very good at cutting complex shapes and patterns, for example for woven patches. Wunderlabel offers additional options such as the Pure Color option or folding. End folds, book cover folds and manhattan folds are particularly popular with customers .

There are several methods of attaching finished personalized clothing labels. These include sticking, sewing and ironing on. Adhesive (stick-on) labels are quick and easy to apply and remove, while labels that are sewn onto garments are a far more permanent option. Iron-on labels are a convenient solution that eliminates the need for sewing and still attaches the label firmly to the fabric. The choice of application method depends on a number of factors, such as the type of fabric, the desired durability and the design of the brand labels.

Final Check for Top Quality Clothing Labels

Our commitment to quality becomes even more obvious in the last step of the production process. We carefully inspect the custom clothing tags and labels for color accuracy, edge condition and print quality. Only the highest quality custom clothing labels and custom patches that meet the US standards are sent to our customers.

Packaging and Shipping of Custom Clothing Labels

Once the manufacturing process is complete, we carefully pack your brandnew custom fabric labels and prepare them for shipment. We take particular care to use environmentally friendly packaging materials to minimize our carbon footprint. Our logistics partners then ensure safe and fast delivery to our customers worldwide.
