The production of printed ribbon at Wunderlabel involves several steps - from the selection of high-quality materials to shipping. In this blog article, you will learn all about the entire manufacturing process of our custom ribbon, including the printing techniques we use.
Our Material of Choice: Satin Polyester
The first step in the production of our customized ribbon is the selection of a suitable material. We choose high quality double-sided satin polyester ribbon in different colors and in a choice of widths. The special satin weave combines durability with a smooth surface and limited fraying. It is therefore ideal for branding, gift wrapping, ornamental bows, event decorations, wedding and birthday party favors and craft projects alike.
Printing Options: Four Techniques for Brilliant Results
There are various types of ribbon, each printed using different techniques. Wunderlabel uses digital and thermal transfer printing for its ribbon. But sublimation and foil printing are also widely used. The ribbon design is optimized with a special software and then uploaded to the printers.
- Digital Printing: The design is printed directly onto the ribbon. This method is precise and can reproduce the finest details and color gradients. Perfect for personalized designs or logos with many colors.
- Thermal transfer printing: With this technique, the design is first printed onto a special film and then transferred to the ribbon using heat. For durable, long-lasting ribbons that retain their color with frequent use.
- Sublimation Printing: This technique involves using heat to impregnate the design into the fibers of the ribbon. The result is a brilliant print that bonds to the material instead of just lying on the surface. Ideal for ribbon that is frequently bent or creased.
- Foil Printing: For applying metallic colors, such as gold or silver, to the ribbon. A special foil is applied under heat to give the design a luxurious, shiny look. For exclusive events or limited editions.
Finishing the Custom Satin Ribbon
After applying the text or logo, the ribbon is cut to the correct length and wound onto spools or rolls using a winder. The rolls of ribbon are now ready for the next step.
Quality Control for Perfect Personalized Ribbon
We carefully inspect each ribbon for printing and material defects before packaging. Only high-quality ribbon that meets our exacting standards is sent on to our Fulfillment Team.
Packaging and Shipping of Your Ribbon Order
After quality control, the ribbon is securely packaged to protect it from damage during shipping. We use different packaging solutions depending on the order quantity and customer requirements. You can choose between standard and express shipping to ensure that you receive your order on time.
