Instructions “How to make a box out of cardboard”
You don’t need to print out a pattern for the DIY project “How to make a box out of cardboard“.
First, grab a piece of scrapbook paper or cardboard and cut it into a square measuring 15 x 15 cm. Then, draw in the lines as shown in the picture below. The margin will later become the glue tab. Cut off the corners as depicted in the picture.
Now you need a cup with a diameter of ca. 8 cm. You can also use a bigger cup: The smaller the diameter, the larger the folded curve ends up being.
Place the cup on the edge of the piece of paper so that the curve of the cup touches both corners (see picture below) and use a bone folder (or a ruler or any other kind of sharper object; just be sure not to perforate the paper) to trace along the curve of the cup.
Do this step 4 times until all curved sides are folded. Then, fold the piece of paper along the center line and along the line of the glue tab and, if necessary, press down a bit more on the folded lines.
Next, seal the box by putting double-sided tape or a little bit of glue onto the glue tab.
Now, simply fold the curves together and there you have your very own box out of cardboard! It might help if you make small incisions at the ends of the center line in order to get the box to shut better.
Fill your pillow box and decorate it with our personalized hangtags and stickers. And your pillow box is finished – a simple yet beautiful box out of cardboard!
