Polyvinyl chloride, abbreviated as PVC, also known as simply vinyl, is the world's third-most widely produced synthetic polymer. PVC is produced in 2 forms: rigid and flexible. It was synthesised in 1872 by a German chemist Eugen Baumann. By the early 20th century, chemical companies were trying to use it commercially but failed due to the material being too brittle.
In 1926 the method of plasticising PVC created a material which was used for a variety of products and continues to be used today.
The unique properties of PVC make it an industry standard for many processes and products:
PVC cards are available as part of our Kids’ School Label Pack. The card comes with a bead chain for hanging and is often used for school backpacks, lunch bags and P.E. bags. These PVC cards are durable, lightweight, UV resistant and have rounded corners.
