You will need:
- Fabric – ½ m each of the outer fabric and lining
- Interfacing – we used Vlieseline H640 but you can just use a similar interfacing, or none if the fabrics you are using are a bit stiffer
- Sewing thread
- Satin ribbon or cord – 1 m

Tutorial - Sew a Knitting Needle Case
First cut your fabrics to size: you will need two pieces of outer fabric and one piece of lining fabric, each measuring 52 x 55 cm. Iron the interfacing onto the back of the lining following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Fold and iron a piece of outer fabric lengthwise, wrong sides together, so that it measures 26 x 55 cm. Topstitch the folded edge - these will be your compartments for your knitting needle storage.
Place the folded piece of fabric under the piece of lining fabric and pin it in place. Then mark the individual compartments with chalk (or pins if the chalk is hard to see on your fabric). The spacing depends on your knitting needles - we sewed compartments with 3 cm spacing and some with 4 cm spacing, but you can also make them larger (for circular knitting needles for example).
Next, sew the compartments. Always start at the top and don't forget to lock your stitches. You can also use a narrow zigzag stitch for the first 5 mm so that the compartments don't open later. There is no need to lock the stitches at the bottom because the seam ends will be hidden in the seam allowance later.
Cut two 45 cm pieces of ribbon or cord and sew them into place, sewing the ends about 10 cm below the edge of your compartments onto one of the short ends of the lining fabric, with the ends of the ribbon/cord facing out.
Place the piece of outer fabric right sides together on the lining fabric and sew the two layers together with a seam allowance of 1 cm. Leave a turn opening of 8-10 cm in the middle of one of the short sides. Lock the stitches before and after the turn opening. Trim the seam allowance at the corners and turn the bag inside out through the opening. Iron everything, making sure that the seam allowance at the turn opening is facing inward.
Topstitch the bag all the way around (closing the turn opening). We topstitched it twice to flatten the edge a bit. Iron the top 10 cm of the knitting needle case down: this will form a kind of "cover flap" for your knitting needle organiser.
You are now ready to attach your personalised label from Wunderlabel.
Now you can fill the bag and close it - fold the top down, roll the bag up and tie the ribbon with a bow. Done!
