Mobile Phone Bag - Instructions
You don’t need a pattern to make a mobile phone pouch. All you need is a few rectangular pieces of fabric.
First, cut the fabric and interfacing to size. You will need both a piece of fabric and interfacing measuring 13 x 40 cm. Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of your fabric according to the manufacturer's instructions. You can cut the corners round, if you wish.
Place the fabric right sides together and sew all around with a seam allowance of 0.75 cm. Leave an opening of about 5-8 cm on the bottom of the short side. Don’t forget to lock your stitches before and after the opening! Then trim the seam allowance at the corners.
Turn the bag through the opening and shape the corners with a pointed object. Sew all around close to the edge and close the opening.
Now prepare the cord tabs. Fold the rectangles in half wrong sides together and iron a fold. Unfold the loops and fold both raw edges towards the centre line. Iron again. Then fold the tabs in half again so that the raw edges are on the inside, iron them again and sew along the long edges. The holders should now measure 5 x 2 cm each. Place the cord tabs 28 cm away from the bottom edge of your bag with the raw edge facing inwards and then sew them onto the pouch.
Next, you can sew on a fun name label from Wunderlabel with your own text and symbol. Choose the iron-on option if you want the application to be quick and easy!
Sew the sides of your bag together. Fold the bottom edge up by 16 cm and sew everything together close to the edge. The top needs to remain open, obviously! Fold the top down and iron it.
All that’s left to do now is to attach the press stud and the cord. Choose where you want to place the fastener then attach following the manufacturer’s instructions. Each end of the cord is threaded through the side loops from the top and fastened underneath the tabs with a knot. .
Your mobile phone pouch is ready!
