• 1984

  Growing up with a strong interest in fashion, she designs her first piece, a pink leather bomber jacket.

• 1988

  At the age of 16, McCartney interns with Christian Lacroix in Paris, gaining valuable experience in the fashion industry.

• early 1990s

  She attends Ravensbourne College of Design and Communications in North Greenwich and later enrolls at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

• 1995

  McCartney's graduate collection at Central Saint Martins is presented by friends and supermodels Kate Moss, Yasmin Le Bon, and Naomi Campbell. Her father Paul composed the song "Stella May Day" especially for the occasion.

• 1997

  Appointed creative director of French fashion house Chloé, working alongside her friend Phoebe Philo. Her tenure at Chloé is marked by critical and commercial success.

• 2000

  McCartney receives the VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year Award which is presented to her by her father Paul McCartney

• 2001

  McCartney leaves Chloé to launch her own fashion label, Stella McCartney, in a 50/50 joint venture with the Gucci Group, now Kering. Her first collection is presented in Paris.

• 2003

  The designer releases her first fragrance, Stella, and continues to expand her product line over the years, including lingerie, eyewear, skincare and children's wear. She marries publisher Alasdhair Willis and has a younger half-sister, Beatrice Milly McCartney, by her father and his second wife, Heather Mills.

  

• 2004

  McCartney partners with adidas to launch the adidas by Stella McCartney performance wear line, which becomes a long-term collaboration.

• 2005

  Her first son Miller Alasdhair James Willis is born.

• 2006

  Her first daughter Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis is born.

• 2008

  She launches a new lingerie line in partnership with the Bendon Group. Her second son Beckett Robert Lee Willis is born.

  

• 2009

  She is honored by the NRDC, featured in the Time 100 and recognized as Glamour Woman of the Year.

• 2010

  Launches a kids collection for newborns and children up to age 12.
  
  Adidas appoints her to design the uniforms for the British Olympic team for the London 2012 Olympic Games, making her the first fashion designer to create clothing for an entire country's Olympic team.
  
  Her second daughter Reiley Dilys Stella Willis is born.

  

• 2011

  Receives the Red Carpet Award from the British Fashion Council.

• 2013

  Appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her services to the fashion industry.

  

• 2014

  Wins the Women's Leadership Award from the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund in New York and the Walpole Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in London.
  
  McCartney introduces the Stella McCartney Green Carpet Collection, showcasing her commitment to sustainable fashion.

• 2016

  Launches her first menswear collection, inspired by her father and comedian Jethro. It includes athleisure and pajama-style casual outfits.

  The designer takes full control of her brand after ending her 17-year partnership with Kering.
  
  She designs Meghan Markle's wedding dress, which receives widespread media attention.

  Collaborates with Taylor Swift on the "Stella X Taylor Swift" project, a fashion line inspired by Swift's album Lover.
