Polypropylene (PP)

OVERVIEW
Polypropylene (PP) is a polymer used for many different applications including medical and laboratory use, packaging, and carpeting to name just a few. It was discovered by chemists in the mid 1950’s and has been in large scale production since 1957. Polypropylene is a diverse material being used for application where strength and rigidity is needed, but can also be used to create thin flexible sheets for things like stickers, decals and a variety of product packaging.

Polypropylene film is used for many labeling purposes due to its durability and high flexibility. It is an industry standard for sticker film because of its special qualities:

  • Colorfast
  • Flexible
  • Accepts ink very well
  • Excellent for cutting into shapes
  • Light and odorless
  • UV stable

What type of Polypropylene Stickers are available at Wunderlabel?

Our PP stickers are available in two styles: a washable, microwave safe version, and a standard glossy finish sticker which is water resistant.

- Washable PP stickers are not only dishwasher and microwave safe, but also UV resistant and perfect for lunchboxes and water bottles. These stickers are printed and then protected with a lamination coating which makes them extremely durable. This type of sticker is available in our Name Labels for Kids - Set in two sizes.

- Standard stickers with a glossy finish are water resistant but should not be washed. Washing or scrubbing will remove the finish and ink. These stickers are available to design using our online design tool or your own logo or artwork.

Application

All of our stickers can be applied to most smooth, nonporous surfaces which are clean, dry and free from dust and oil. Recommended temperature for optimal adhesion is between 41°F and 113°F (5°C - 45°C). Application outside this temperature range will severely impair adhesion.
