Introducing made by LIESL!

Customer Spotlight: made by LIESL

Tell us about made by LIESL - how did you get started?

I’ve started made by LIESL in 2017 showing my creations online, but I’ve been sewing since I was a kid, on and off. The sewing fever fiercely lit up in 2017 when I participated in an online sewing contest hosted by a Dutch sewing magazine called Knipmode (you could call it the Dutch online spin off from British Sewing Bee). When this contest crossed my path I had just decided to spend more time on my creativity. Perfect timing. And I won! During the contest I discovered how great my love for creating really is. That was the biggest reward. At this moment I own my own business as a life coach and slowly changing my career path towards being a fulltime ‘creator’.

What keeps you inspired to create?

Pretty much everything around me, fashion from different periods in time, fabrics, second hand pieces, people I see in the street….what not.

I love challenging myself and discovering new techniques in sewing and fabrics manipulation. There are so many things I would like to make, different techniques I want to learn and all with sustainability in mind. I am all for slow fashion and upcycling. I want to be inspired and also be an inspiration to others, that’s my goal. So I share my makes on different Social Media and organize workshops.

What does labelling your items do for your business?

That moment that I had put in my first label I realized I made something on my own from scratch and finished it….that’s the best feeling. Especially because I had enjoyed the process of getting there so much. It’s my meditation and it just makes me happy!

Customer Spotlight: made by LIESL

First I made my own labels. Printed them on transfer paper. But they were not sustainable at all. Receiving my first batch of LIESL labels from Wunderlabel I immediately thought: ‘Let’s create!’. I chose a simple design so they would balance my more outspoken designs and complement my basics.

Where can we find you online?

At the moment I write blogs on the Dutch BERNINA blog (in 2019 also in English), for the Minerva Crafts website and my own blog site. In 2019 I will launch my own website. I also have a YouTube channel, a Facebook page and Instagram.

Customer Spotlight: made by LIESL

Thanks for sharing Marlies!

Introducing iHooked!

Customer Spotlight: iHooked

Tell us about iHooked - how did you get started?

I got hooked on crocheting back in 2010 when I decided to quit smoking. It gave me the ability to quit smoking and stay quit, but also it opened me up to a whole new artisan world of super talented, local and international artisans I never knew were out there.

It didn’t take long to think of a name for my business. I am an absolute tech junkie - specifically, I am in love with all things Apple. But I also work full time at the University of Manitoba as a Software Specialist. So smashing the two main things (technology and crochet) in my life together just made sense. iHooked was born! I then opened up my Etsy store and just started creating crochet wears using bright colours, different textures and materials.

What keeps you inspired?

There is so much out there that inspires me, but the main thing that keeps me going are my customers. Whether it’s seeing someone wearing one of my hats at the store, or a customer coming up to me at a local craft show and saying "oh I bought this from you last year and love it." They all inspire me to create more.

Customer Spotlight: iHooked

What does labeling your items do for your business?

Labeling adds a special detail that I feel makes my brand stand out. When I first started I had little wood tags, and they were great, however I didn’t think the “wood look” was me. So I started looking around. I searched Etsy and Pinterest at others artisans and how they brand their items and how I can stand out from them as well.

When I came across the custom fabric tags at Wunderlabel, I knew that this is what I wanted my brand to be and it just felt right. When I got my first round of labels, I sat in my favourite chair and started sewing them onto my products. After hand sewing about 20 tags, I knew I was not a fan of sewing. It took forever for me to sew and I really did not like doing it. So I needed to really rethink how I was going to attach these to my crochet wears. This is were the rivets came in. I picked up a small pack of rivets from my local Michaels store and just started attaching and hammering them on … and I loved it!!!! It was a quick process, no needle and no thread to tie off. It was perfect. Plus the rivet gives my brand a bit of a modern look which is what I really was looking for.

Customer Spotlight: One Ocean Ohana

"The ocean is a huge part of my life and I see it as part of my family."

We all know that one use plastic is polluting our earth at alarming rates. Desiree created One Ocean Ohana to combat this problem with metal straws which get tucked into vibrant take-a-long pouches. We love her philosophy and her drive! We’re so proud to be her label provider.

Introducing One Ocean Ohana!

Customer Spotlight: One Ocean Ohana

Tell us about One Ocean Ohana - how did you get started?

Well I’m a marine biologist by trade. I’ve always loved the ocean and ocean creatures. I’ve worked with sharks, rays, fish and sea turtles. It’s been a real dream but I’ve seen some really horrible things, like plastic bags in turtle tummies and sharks caught in nets for fishing. Back to how I’m here now. I got married and we moved all the way across the country to Rhode Island from California. My husband is Navy and I needed a job but the nearest aquarium or place for me to work was too far. A shark diving boat was hiring finally and it was right up my alley. I had all the credentials I had been doing shark boat diving for a company in California for several years. They told me they don’t hire girls. Well I wasn’t going to let this stop me from doing what I love or having a connection to the sea. My mother taught me to sew and I’ve always made things for myself and others.  I began sewing pouches for metal straws and giving them to friends. I was trying to make them understand their important role in this world with a beautiful DIY Zipper Pouch and bright colored straws that catch the eye and make you smile. My friends said I needed to sell these pouches and it just turned into this wonderful thing. Now I’m making reusable produce bags and sandwich bags. Really going the next step in bringing functional products that are durable made of 45% recycled material and lovely to look at. Some of our new pouches help fund animals with proceeds going towards great causes.

Customer Spotlight: One Ocean Ohana

What keeps you inspired?

Knowing every time a pouch leaves a turtle and all ocean life is safer from plastic waste. I think about the customers and I’m grateful for their compassion and thoughtfulness. I think about the ocean dives I can’t wait to do and I won’t see straws on the beach. 1 metal straw just replaced 5,000 plastic straws from entering the sea each year. These sea creatures and a future for others to enjoy the ocean keeps me positive!

What does labeling your items do for your business?

It allows me to spread a message. Ohana the Hawaiian word for family shows that the sea is part of your life and part of your family. So many people experience special occasions and moments by the sea. The ocean is a huge part of my life and I see it as part of my family. Even the mountains and streams these beautiful gems of our world. I hope can be seen through the eyes of many more to come and the wonderful creatures can enjoy their homes. My labels give my business a voice.

Introducing Peake Ties!

Customer Spotlight: Peake Ties

Tell us about Peake Ties - how did you get started?

I started making ties as a Christmas gift for a friend. I wanted to make him something unique and after coming across a pattern I whipped up a couple for him. After giving them to him he kept telling me I should start selling them. I thought that was a terrible idea. I have sewn since I was a kid and growing up I knew I wanted to make things for a living I just didn’t know what that would be. I had tried several different items and nothing ever seemed to catch on. This led to my hesitation with wanting to pursue tie making. I had lots of set backs with other products and I didn’t want to get stuck with a ton of ties I would never use.  Slowly but surely I started making more and either selling them or giving them to friends and progressively it grew. This year has already been the best year we have ever had and it isn’t even halfway over. We were the Official Bow Tie of the Kentucky Derby Festival and are hoping to continue that partnership in the coming years.

Customer Spotlight: Peake Ties

What keeps you inspired?

Honestly sometimes just seeing certain prints of fabric does it for me. I also have AMAZING and loyal customers that bring me new ideas and want different enough pieces that I love keeping up with them. Being in Louisville, Kentucky for the Kentucky Derby doesn’t hurt either. If you have been toying with the idea of wearing something fun and original that is the time to give it a whirl.

What does labeling your items do for your business?

Labeling is absolutely vital. I sell at local shops around town and obviously can’t be there all the time and business cards are great but are so easily lost. If an individual comes in and grabs a tie with no label you hope they remember where they got it from. I worked at one of those shops for a while and I can’t tell you the number of times I would have people come to the store looking for something that they had gotten from the area but couldn’t remember which shop. There is also a growing number of makers in the world and if you are in a place where others are making what you do how can people tell you all apart? You are a business and you need branding. You need your name out there. If you want a loyal following you have to give them ways to find you.

Peake Ties can be found on their own website, on Facebook and Instagram.

Customer Spotlight: Lattikka

"At the heart of Lattikka is individuality - both my own and that of my customers."

We are blown away by the style inspiration we receive when looking at Lattikka designs. Irina, the creative force behind Lattikka, has taken she something she truly loves and turned it into a dressmaking business. Her talent, style and drive is a winning trifecta which has obviously equaled success and an abundance of beautiful designs. We are proud to be her costum printed label provider.

Introducing Lattikka!

Customer Spotlight: Lattikka

Lattikka is not solely a brand for me. Lattikka is the lens through which I view the world – fashion, philosophy, creative ambition; it was, and is, many things, all of which I hold dear. I started sewing at a very young age, and, throughout the years, it became the hobby that I had the most opportunity to nurture and develop. Lattikka itself has been through many transformations, from style and personal presentation blog, to styling ideas and re-modelling, but I think I always knew it was only a matter of time before it became a made to measure dressmaking service. At the heart of Lattikka is individuality - both my own and that of my customers. Despite the tendency of the auteur to put their own personal touch on things, I find it important to let my customer's personalities shine through too.

When creating anything, it is important to have your name attached to it - It is not only about the ownership or credit, but also having pride in what you do.  Maybe my mark won't make waves in the fashion industry on the whole, but leaving an impression on my customers wardrobes? That is something I can get behind. There's a certain ceremony to attaching a label - it is never an afterthought, but fitted to ‘draw some attention to itself’. It's the icing on the cake!

Customer Spotlight: Lattikka

Inspiration is hard to pin down. Sometimes it can be a singular flash of creativity, sometimes it is a long, meticulous process, weighing out all of the details and refining them over several months. At times it is neither and you really don't know what to expect in the end – surrendering to the process is the only option at times like this, and I've often created my best work when 'switching off'. Ultimately though, the love of the craft is beneath it all. Lattikka Style can be found on Instagram, Facebook and her on the Lattikka Style website.

Customer Spotlight: Na’Vieve Collections

“I want my children and grandchildren to know those who still live in my memory.”

When we saw the sweet bonnets made by Nicole of Na’Vieve Collections, we knew they were something special. How she got started is a story which can be passed from generation to generation and definitely tugs at the heartstrings. Her beautiful handmade bonnets are not only beautiful but tell a story about the past, the present and the future. We are so proud to support a business like Na’Vieve Collections with our logo labels.

Introducing Na’Vieve Collections!

Customer Spotlight: Na’Vieve Collections

How did Na’Vieve Collections get started?

I grew up watching my grandmother sew. I was always fascinated with the colors and textures of all her fabric. She would constantly offer to show me how to sew, but I never felt like it was something I had the talent for. 35 years later, in January of 2018, I purchased my first sewing machine. I left it in the box for a few weeks second guessing my new found courage to “give it a try”. Halfway through my first project, I was obsessed. I called my grandmother to share with her my new found hobby and she was so proud to hear that we now both shared the same passion. She came over a few weeks later, and shared with me a bonnet pattern that was handed down to her. She reminded me that these were the same bonnets I wore growing up and that I had one in every color! She sat right beside me and guided me every step of the way. I will treasure that day for the rest of my life!

Customer Spotlight: Na’Vieve Collections

What keeps me inspired to create?

I want my children and grandchildren to know those who still live in my memory. Keepsakes can build those bridges in tangible, accessible ways that will make the memories feel more real to younger generations. There’s not just a story to tell or a picture to look at, there’s an heirloom bonnet that can bring the stories to life. I want the same for my customers that’s why I only use the finest fabrics and laces available. I love creating classic hand-made bonnets for life’s most cherished moments.

Customer Spotlight: Na’Vieve Collections

What does labeling your bonnets do for your business?

I want my bonnets to have a timeless label with high quality just like my bonnets and Wunderlabel delivered just that!  I want everyone to see the label and recognize the brand – Na’Vieve Collections. Wunderlabel takes pride in their work not to mention, they have outstanding customer service and quick turnaround time. Check out Na’Vieve Collections on Instagram and Facebook - you will be so glad you did.

We all know how hard it is to find the perfect bag or statement necklace. Heather, the creator of Indigo Ember Designs, is making it way easier by offering up her handmade creations. Introducing Indigo Ember!

Customer Spotlight: Indigo Ember Designs

Tell us about Indigo Ember Designs.

Indigo Embers was started because of a hobby and a creative spark. For as long as I can remember, I've been an artist at heart, whether it is by drawing, painting, building, or sewing, I have a passion for creating. In 2012 I began making jewelry to share with the world in craft shows and just through word of mouth. As life happens, I became busy with my kiddos and work and pushed it to the side. At the end of 2017, I really felt the calling to start doing more creating again.

What keeps you inspired to create?

In the last few years I've really learned a lot about business, fashion, and creating a product that I would love to share. As I have been on this journey in my busy life, I noticed a need for cute, functional and affordable handbags and totes for busy gals which I am super excited to be bringing to fruition. Most pieces are day dreams, sketches or plain ol' spur of the moment creations. It is my hope that by having a piece of one of my collections, you are able to express your creativity as well.

Customer Spotlight: Indigo Ember Designs

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

I think it is super important to have your branding vibe and a good visual presentation when showing your product to a customer. I immediately chose Wunderlabel in my search to help brand my pieces because of how they presented themselves. I love that my hangtags create a long lasting impression on my customers and that the little label that they see in each bag is a reminder that each is made with love and creativity.

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

“I am constantly in wonder and awe of my surroundings, whether it’s natural or industrial: color, shape, light, shadow; I see design in everything.”

To say we’re starstruck is an understatement, but not only because Kim Hawthorne from the hit U.S. television series Greenleaf has chosen Wunderlabel as a partner for her logo labels, but because she is on a mission to empower and inspire. Kim created The Regal Wrap™, ready to wear head wraps to, as she puts it, “connect with women and inspire us to remember just how powerful and invincible we are! All we have to do is use what God gave us!”

The Regal Wrap™ collection is absolutely stunning and Kim’s upbeat and can-do attitude is icing on the cake. Make sure to check out The Regal Wrap™ website - you’ll be so glad you did!

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

Tell us about The Regal Wrap™ - how did you get started?

It’s funny because if you told me I would be a designer of ready-to-wear head wraps a year and a half ago I would have said, “Huh?” But, I started to recognize a need and I became obsessed with filling it. Whenever I’d post a pic of myself sporting a head wrap on social media my girlfriends would always share that they wish they knew how to tie a head wrap, or that theirs never looked good when they did tie it. Now, what they were liking on social media was the finished, successful version of a head wrap I’d tied. But what I was painfully aware of is that it took me at least 3 or more attempts to get it right. What if I could create an easy head wrap experience for fashion forward women on-the-go who want to wear stylish head wraps without all of the wrangling? And boom: my quest to create a pre-tied, fashionable, ready-to-wear head wrap was born.

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

What keeps you inspired to create?

What doesn’t keep me inspired? I am constantly in wonder and awe of my surroundings, whether it’s natural or industrial: color, shape, light, shadow; I see design in everything. I once stopped my car and took a picture of a man painting a fire hydrant. I’ve been on this planet a long time and I’ve never seen a fire hydrant being painted. It’s the little things. And I appreciate them all! I think because of this perspective I’m never at a loss for creative ideas. In fact, I’m usually bombarded by so many that my head spins. I have so many ideas for The Regal Wrap™, I feel as if I’ve only executed 3% of what I see in my head.

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

What does labeling your items do for your business?

My Regal Wraps™ are not finished until I sew the label on. It’s only then that I can look at it from all angles and give it a thumbs up or down. So, that label says, “This is my offering to the world. I’ve valued it enough to place my name is on it. I stand behind this product, brand and label.” To the customer it says, “Please accept this creation. It was made with love. Wear it with joy and ease. This brand was thought through. I value you.”

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

I searched high and low for the perfect sized label with appropriate color and text selections. Pricing is of great importance to me as well. So I’m grateful to have found Wunderlabel. I’m able to execute my labels in my brand colors: pink, white and gold. And the little circular package tags add the perfect amount whimsy to my packaging. It’s important that my customers smile and giggle a little when they receive their Regal Wrap™. Wunderlabel helps me deliver delight!

Customer Spotlight: The Regal Wrap™

Check out The Regal Wrap™ shop to view all the gorgeous fabrics and styles available. The Regal Wrap™ can also be found on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @TheRegalWrap™. The lovely Kim Hawthorne can be found on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @TheKimHawthorne.

Thank you for sharing Kim!

Customer Spotlight: Thorne Blanket Company

"Labeling my blankets with my woven label from Wunderlabel is the most important part of my blankets."

I think we can all agree that a snuggly blanket is something we can all use. In a time where mass production rules the market, Thorne Blanket Company is like a breath of fresh air. Stephanie started Thorne Blanket Company with family tradition and quality in mind and we think she’s accomplished that goal. Thorne Blanket Company is a business with heart with the quality to back it up. We’re proud to be their label provider.

Introducing Thorne Blanket Company!

Customer Spotlight: Thorne Blanket Company

Tell us about Thorne Blanket Company.

I got started with Thorne Blanket Company many years ago. My grandparents lived in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. Every summer I would spend the entire 3 months off from school with them just doing everyday things like going to the grocery store, paying the electric bill (back then they actually went to the electric company and paid the bill) and shopping in the local “seconds” stores of various manufacturing plants that dotted the landscape back then. One particular place that my grandmother and I would go is the Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin, North Carolina which made the "Chatham Blanket”. These were wonderful wool blankets with the traditional satin binding, sturdy, hearty and thick. The people who made these blankets lived in the Elkin community generation after generation and it was tradition that kept them going. There was something about these wonderfully woven blankets that always struck a cord with me. They represented warmth, security and strength.

Thorne Blanket Company was born out of that same spirit.  I wanted to create some of that same traditional quality, strength and endurance that I saw with Chatham Manufacturing.  I also wanted to create jobs back into my community when so many manufacturing jobs have gone overseas. I wanted to create a place that people could live and work in their small community and raise their families to carry on traditions that I grew up with.

Customer Spotlight: Thorne Blanket Company

What keeps you inspired to create?

I never lack ideas for blankets because to me they represent a blank canvas. There are so many wonderful variants like fabric, cut, weave, color, texture and all the great combinations that can come from that.  It’s funny because I think you can see a lot of my moods in some of these creative blankets based on the color and tone of each blanket. There are so many places I want to go with these blankets as well. Woven materials, textures, fabric and colors that have not been explored yet leave a wealth of possibility.

Customer Spotlight: Thorne Blanket Company

What does labeling your blankets do for your business?

Labeling my blankets with my woven label from Wunderlabel is the most important part of my blankets.  I researched other blanket companies and what their labels used to look like and I wanted a label that told the world that my product had weight, quality and tradition backing it up. I think my entire idea about this company came from the idea of this label being on my blankets. I wanted the world to WANT a Thorne Blanket because when they see that fantastic label they know that my product is one of significance and distinction. I don’t think there are many companies today to compare this concept to, maybe Woolrich or Pendleton but I don’t think their labels are as nice as mine (hehe - I am biased though) and the quality with which that label came back to me from Wunderlabel when they made it was very impressive. I was so impressed with the detail they could pull off in my logo (which I admit is not the easiest to reproduce - especially in a woven label) and I definitely think that it is the crowning touch of branding my product just as I had envisioned it.

"We are passionate about creating beautiful, safe, and functional items for children and babies."

What could better than joining forces with a good friend to create a business that not only allows you to have a creative outlet but also makes life with kids easier? We definitely think this is a winning combination! Melissa and Rebecca of Berry Bug Shop did just that and have been creating beautiful children’s accessories ever since.  We are so pleased that they choose Wunderlabel to be their woven label provider.

Introducing Berry Bug Shop!

Customer Spotlight: Berry Bug Shop

Tell us about Berry Bug Shop.

The Berry Bug Shop is all about making life with littles a little easier!  We (Melissa Bergeron and Rebecca Tellyer) create products that feature fun prints, handmade quality, and functionality for babies, family, and pets.

But most of all, we LOVE fun, bold prints that are full of personality!  So much of what we do is gender neutral, with bold colors and whimsical detail.

We both learned how to sew when we were kids, taught by our mothers and grandmothers. We met years ago while performing seissun music at local Irish pubs, and formed the Barn Burners String Band in 2013.  Melissa sings and plays fiddle, while Becky performs a variety of wind instruments. In October of 2016, we decided to pool our talents and embark on a new journey, and opened the Berry Bug Shop!

Customer Spotlight: Berry Bug Shop

We used our experiences as mothers to design pieces that were functional, easy to care for, and stylish.

We quickly realized we were onto something great, and have been working hard at expanding our offerings to include the whole family, including beloved pets. Melissa has a daughter, step son, and four dogs: 3 Brittneys named Linden, Baron and Doodle, and a boxer named Seamus. Becky has a son, a daughter, one Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Loki and a cat named Sammy.

You will see our families represented throughout our business, from Becky's daughter in product photos, to Melissa's pups modeling bandanas. It is truly a family effort, including supportive husbands and spouses helping to spread the word, and sisters with marketing ideas.

We are passionate about creating beautiful, safe, and functional items for children and babies. All items in the Berry Bug Shop are sewn in our home-based stuios.  We strive to go the extra mile to make sure everything is CPSIA compliant (US regulations for children’s products). We do this to keep children safe.

Customer Spotlight: Berry Bug Shop

What keeps you inspired to do what you do?

We are inspired by our children and families.  It’s a gift to be able to work from home, so we can have an outlet for our creativity, as well as be there for our growing families.  It can be a challenge to balance everything at times, but it’s all a labor of love!

What does labeling your items do for your business?

Labeling is incredibly important, because it permanently affixes our brand to our items. Customers, in time, may lose the paper tags and business cards. Woven labels stay put- ours are sewn directly to our products.

Because our items are geared toward babies and young children and made to stand the test of time, it is reasonable to expect that they may be handed down to other families. If a recipient did not purchase the item, but loves our quality and design, they can easily find our brand on the woven label, look us up online, and explore our store.

We love Wunderlabel products, and will continue to use them exclusively. They perfectly embody our brand, look beautiful, and are exceedingly well made.  Best of all the cost is reasonable for our growing start-up.

Thanks for sharing Melissa and Rebecca!

Customer Spotlight: Boola Made

We adore the story of how Rebecca from Boola Made got her start.  The art of creating keepsakes is so special and seeing this gorgeous handwork is a true inspiration.  We are proud to have our labels attached to such adorable makes.

Introducing Boola Made!

Mini Bears

Tell us about Boola Made

I have always loved being creative whether that be sewing, crafting or designing buildings. By day I am an architectural assistant, by night I make beautiful keepsakes. I started Boola Made after making keepsake bears for my two nieces, Eliza and Matilda. I wanted to make them something special that they could keep from their childhood. I posted a picture of the first 'Boola Bear' and 'Boola Lion' on social media and there was so much interest I decided to start Boola Made and haven't looked back since. I now make Boola Bears, Mini Bears, Bunnies, Lions and Patchwork Quilt keepsakes.

The reason behind the name: Boola is my childhood nickname from my parents (Daren and Tracey). My nieces even call me Auntie Boo.

Starting Boola Made has also encouraged me to improve my sewing skills. I now make my own clothes and write a blog about my makes.

Bear & lion

What keeps you inspired to create?

The original inspiration for Boola Made was of course my beautiful nieces Eliza and Matilda. Making something from their Auntie Boo which they could treasure forever. My inspiration grows with every keepsake I make. Seeing what these unique gifts mean to the parents and the stories behind each baby grow and item of clothing keeps me inspired. One client asked me to make a Boola bear out of their loved ones garments, who unfortunately passed away, I could tell it meant so much to her. That is what Boola Made is all about - a special way to save and treasure memories. I have also been asked to make a bear out of a wedding dress, that is my next challenge.

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

The woven labels from Wunderlabels are great for all my projects. They promote my business in a professional way without taking away from keepsakes. I use the woven sew-on labels with enhanced colour. Having labels that I can sew onto my keepsakes gives me the freedom to position them where I like. I chose the sew on labels as I sew all my keepsakes so it is lovely to sew on the name Boola Made. I have recently started making fleece lined blankets and can not wait to add my personalised labels.

Introducing Lemon Yellow Dress!

Customer Spotlight: lemon yellow dress

Tell us about Lemon Yellow Dress. How did you get started with sewing?

My mom taught me how to sew when I was in elementary school. I spent many hours making scrunchies in middle school & funky clothing in High School (breaking my mom’s poor machine along the way!). I bought my first machine with a tax return from working at the mall. I stopped sewing when I went off to college and didn’t really pick it back up until about 3 years ago. At the time, my main focus was being a mom to my young kids. I really needed something to de-stress, an activity that I had for myself. Sewing became that activity & has since become my much needed “me” time. I started off by sewing dresses for my daughter ( she NEEDED a rocket dress!) and then dresses and skirts for myself. I also really enjoy making bags and purses on occasion. My sewing machines and pattern stash have become my favorite possessions.

Customer Spotlight: lemon yellow dress

What made you take the next step and start sewing clothing?

I needed all the dresses! After digging back into the sewing world, I realized how much amazing fabric & patterns were out there. I also really enjoy making dresses for my daughter, she still really appreciates them at almost 8 years old. I hope she never wants me to stop! I recently started selling some pieces to friends, it feels really good to see them wearing my creations.

What keeps you inspired to create?

I find inspiration from mid-century sewing patterns, especially dresses. Sewing for myself has enabled me to have a custom fit that I would not get from a store bought garment, and it’s addictive. I wear dresses daily so there is always room for more! I also teach High School Fashion Design, so I am always looking to vintage apparel for design and construction techniques. I recently looked to vintage inspired wedding gowns to create a 10th anniversary dress for myself. The dress took many weeks to plan & make, but it was such an amazing experience to take an idea and transform it into the perfect dress for me. I love picking up new techniques along the way to push my skills further.

Customer Spotlight: lemon yellow dress

Why did you choose to label your handmade items?

I remember my mom having sewing labels with her name on them when I was a kid. I always thought it was a lovely finishing touch, makes the garment look professional and uniquely yours. Now I put labels in all my creations!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

“I'm fascinated by the way different fabrics respond to different treatments.”

Watching someone do what they love is an inspiration!  That’s how we feel about Katie, the creative force behind Adams & Canyon.  Fabric pairings, dying methods, textures and feel are the most important details and make her handmade items individual works of art. We are honored that Katie chose us to be her woven label provider.

Introducing Adams & Canyon!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

Adams & Canyon is my little business, which I love. Under its small umbrella, I am free to create and experiment, and fill my home with ambitious quantities of linen, cotton, faux-fur, and any other material that catches my eye. It is so much fun! My recent endeavors include deep indigo linen shibori, fur throws with custom backing, and hand dyed fabric designs sewn into home decor.

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

I'm fascinated by the way different fabrics respond to different treatments. Whether I'm using a natural indigo dye to create a shibori linen throw blanket, removing color with a paintbrush to make a light print on a dark pillow, or printing an image with botanicals I've picked on a neighborhood walk, I love it all. I love to learn new things.  Since I'm always getting new fabrics, and thinking of a million things to do with it, I get to learn a lot! It's wonderful to try something different, perfect an old technique, or create something really lovely and fresh. Pairing new fabrics can also be very inspiring, and I love to mix textures. Lately, I've been pairing my hand-printed cottons or linens with soft faux-fur. The printed or dyed fabric creates visual depth and texture, and the fur brings a very different textural experience to the piece. And there’s a bonus-- my faux-fur throws are very cozy!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

I began sewing at a young age, because my own mother is an excellent seamstress. So I have always loved to sew for myself, but it took a little while to get the courage and inspiration to sew for other people. Let’s just say many years! I thought it would be difficult getting started, but one day I looked at all of my homemade throw pillows, textile art in my home, and throw blankets and realized I had not only made the items, but modified the fabrics on all of them! And that is what I love to do. The fabrics were completely my own, sewn into all of these things that bring me joy.

Eventually I got inspired to take things further, and with the encouragement of a few good friends, I decided to open an Etsy shop and sell my pieces at local markets in San Diego. And it’s been good for my creative side. After all, I can only make so much home decor for my own use!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

I know there can be a lot of competition in the marketplace, especially the open air market. So to me, a professional label and good marketing really sets an item apart. Once I had the concept for my business in my head, I looked around for some well-made woven labels.  I found Wunderlabel, and I'm so happy I did! It was easy to order what I wanted, and I especially love that I could order a small quantity to begin. When you're starting a business, there are plenty of expenses, and I didn't want the commitment of a huge quantity of expensive labels, especially when I wasn't even sure my products would sell! I love the label I chose. Its simplicity and clean text adds a professional luxe and gravity to my products, without overwhelming with pattern and color. I get compliments on my labels all the time!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

Every piece I make is hand-dyed, hand printed, and sewn by me. My husband jokes that they are ultra-handmade! Basically, if a fabric has a pattern, I've put it there! Although the process is time-consuming, the result is that each piece is completely unique. Single-run printing, and one-batch dyeing turns into one-of-a-kind pillows, throw blankets, and anything else I feel like trying! It's so much fun for me to learn things about textiles as I make beautiful and functional art. And it’s just the best feeling to see the Adams & Canyon brand on every item - like I'm a real professional, even if my creative time is naptime and late nights!

Customer Spotlight: Adams & Canyon

Adams & Canyon is a name inspired by the place where I live, San Diego, California. In a sunny bungalow with my husband and two little kids, ages five and one and a half. Am I crazy to have a business in addition to being a full-time parent at home? Maybe! Things can get a bit hectic around here, but love being a mother, and I love creating things. We all start out somewhere. Why not here?

If you'd like to get in touch with me, or see what I'm up to, find me online! On instagram, you can see what I'm making right now, including some amazing cocktail recipes! If you'd like to see what’s in my shop for sale, check out my website. I also have an etsy store.

Customer Spotlight: District Coverup

Get ready for some serious quilt eye candy!  Tighe Flanagan, the creative force behind District Coverup, is a self taught quilter and an inspiration!  Tighe’s attention to detail and love of quilting shows in each and every one of his quilts and quilted pillow covers.  His creations are classic but also fresh and modern which is a win-win in our book!  To know the story of how District Coverup got started is to love it and we couldn’t be happier to be Tighe’s woven label provider.

Introducing District Coverup!

I started District Coverup this year as a creative outlet at the beginning of the year. At the end of 2016 I decided I needed to do more things offline, and I reconnected with my love of sewing and making things with my hands. I had never tried quilting but had always loved the old quilts that my family has from my grandma and great-grandma. So, armed with countless hours of YouTube inspiration and guidance, I decided to give it a go! I made my first queen sized quilt in January 2017 (admittedly, a very ambitious first quilt).

Customer Spotlight: District Coverup

From then I decided to try different styles and learn new skills on smaller scales -- making baby quilts for friends and then making small pillow-sized creations. My most ambitious pattern so far has been recreating Moroccan tile or zellij patterns with machine piecing. I enjoy all aspects of this type of project, from designing and planning, to stitching it all together and making it into a useful household item (tiles and fabric don’t work the same way, so you have to get creative).

Customer Spotlight: District Coverup

I was so proud of my Moroccan tile pillow for business that I put all of the proceeds from my first Etsy sale into proper tags, to give my products a professional and personalized finish. The tags are simple black and white, with three stars (inspired from the DC flag) with the simple text, “Handmade by Tighe Flanagan / Washington, DC” on the reverse. I wanted these tags to be useful for all my creations, so I focused more on the maker and the location, less on the brand.

Customer Spotlight: District Coverup

District Coverup was an idea that came to me that speaks to my city, DC. Most people think of DC in terms of politics, and scandal, so I thought coverup would be a playful reference to that aspect of this place. It also speaks to the types of things I make -- bags, slipcovers, quilts and stretched canvas art (things that literally cover our walls, pillows, beds, and homes). DC is a big inspiration for me, with the wealth of historical maps and buildings, to the growing scene of local makers and entrepreneurs. The city I live in is not so much House of Cards or Veep, but full of real people doing real things.

Customer Spotlight: District Coverup

I’m still getting started with my online store, but eager to see where it leads me. It’s a side project now, but one day I’d love to be able to devote my energy to it full time.

I’m most active on Instagram and Twitter, and list my finished items in my Etsy shop. I’m also interested in doing custom orders or commissions, so feel free to contact me in those spaces if you have an idea you’d like me to execute for you! My personal Instagram and Twitter feature more work-in-progress posts, as well as whatever inspires me from my travels around the world.

Thanks so much for sharing Tighe!

Our business concept is to manufacture and sell unique products under our own brand. We have focus on quality and design and we would like to create sustainable luxury in everyday life. The products we design and manufacture under our own brand T. Herman are mainly textiles within the interior segment. We are trying to create products of the best quality and handpick our fabrics from India, we mainly work with wool fabrics that should last a lifetime. We want to create sustainability.  We do not believe in mass production, we would like to create unique products that are only available in a few pieces to have a more unique and exclusive feel.  Important for us is to create products that last in many years.

We constantly work to update our product portfolio and create, design and sell new products.

Customer Spotlight: T.Herman

What keeps you inspired to create?

My life changed! I have been working as a finance manager for international companies and as many other people I hit the “wall”, so my life changed and I started to think what I really wanted to do with my life and that was actually to create. I went back to my childhood dreams! So I quit my job and started on my own – in September 2016 I went by myself to India and looked for high quality fabrics! I bought 500 meters and started my own brand and production – this is my journey and I just love to create and inspire other people! I follow my dream now.

Customer Spotlight: T.Herman

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

When I started to design I had a vision for the brand that came very early in the process – how the brand should look like and the colours I wanted on my textile labels. I wanted to create that exclusive feeling and the labels are very important in that process, also that the labels have a high quality and a nice feel. The textile labels complete the look that I want and comply with the demands I have on quality of fabrics and textile labels.

Customer Spotlight: Handmade Knits by Jenn

We may be gearing up for spring, but we still have time to enjoy some warm knitted goodness!  These knitted creations are impeccably made by Jenn, the knitting extraordinaire behind Handmade Knits by Jenn.  She’s creating the perfect hats, mittens, booties and scarves, to name just a few, to keep you warm.  This is especially important during the cold winter months in Ottawa Canada where Handmade Knits by Jenn was started.  She definitely has an eye for beautiful color combinations and her big fluffy pom poms are to die for!  We are so pleased that Jenn chose Wunderlabel as her logo label provider.

Introducing Handmade Knits by Jenn!

Customer Spotlight: Handmade Knits by Jenn

Tell us about Handmade Knits by Jenn

The name really speaks for itself - I love to knit, and am now selling to others! This venture started last fall, through a partnership with my mom at a Christmas craft sale. My mom, recently retired, and I, on maternity leave, decided to make the jump to selling our handmade creations. We rented a table at the craft sale together, and my mom sold quilted and sewn items, and I offered the knitted products (hats, mittens, cowls, baby sets, etc). We had a lot of fun participating in the event, we both managed to make some sales and we received encouraging words from those who came through. The sale also served as a catalyst for a series of Christmas orders from family and friends. The custom orders have continued to come (almost more than I can keep up with), and just last month I started showcasing my knitwear in the local artisan corner at our community bakeshop.

So far, I have not set any boundaries to this - I knit what appeals to me and what I think will appeal to others. I spend countless hours perusing patterns and yarns to inform my next creations.

Handmade Knits by Jenn is an outlet for my creativity and an opportunity to share my love of knitting with others. It is also a project that I can truly call my own when most of my daily hours are consumed by the three young children in my household.

Customer Spotlight: Handmade Knits by Jenn

What keeps you inspired to create?

The knitting community is an extremely vibrant one, and I am constantly inspired by the creations of others. I'm also motivated by my family and friends who give me regular cues about what they like and don't like. Ultimately, knitting is something that I find relaxing and enjoyable. I like producing something that is so fundamentally practical (like a toque in our harsh Canadian winter!), but also so artistic and unique. The creative possibilities are truly endless.

Customer Spotlight: Handmade Knits by Jenn

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

It allows me to put my stamp on these products, each and every one of which is a labour of love. I'm proud of my handmade knits, and I want to show that.

Handmade Knits by Jenn can be found on Facebook and Instagram.  She’s also considering opening an Etsy shop, so stay tuned!

Customer Spotlight: Velvet California

This month’s Customer Spotlight: Velvet California is radiating style!  Katy, the force behind Velvet California made it her mission to design a clothing line which not only gave that coastal boho vibe but was comfortable and practical too.  We wholeheartedly believe her mission was accomplished.  Creating fun clothing isn’t the only thing on Katy’s mind though, all of Velvet California’s designs are sustainably sourced, fair trade or a one-of-a-kind design which was made in California.  Her designs are unique and feminine and we couldn’t be happier to be Velvet California's woven label provider.

Customer Spotlight: Velvet California

Tell us about Velvet California

I love to shop.  However, I'm the kind of girl who always finds almost what I'm looking for, but not quite...you know, the one who wants to add a patch here, cut off a hem there, and generally make things more interesting!  I started Velvet California after having two kids and realizing that what I wear has to be not only unique and fun, but also wearable for someone on the go.  I love vintage clothing, but it's often not very practical for someone who is chasing around toddlers at the grocery store!

The line started around a kimono and a t shirt.  I have always been obsessed with kimonos, finding them at thrift stores and vintage shops and wearing them with my shirts and jeans or over dresses.  Kimonos and vintage t-shirts to me are the best finds at flea markets or anywhere I'm shopping, so my original vision for the line started with a more wearable Japanese inspired kimono and a shirt that looks like you could have found it in your grandparents attic.

Velvet California is really designed to be the kind of clothes that you can make a statement in, but also be your "go-to" pieces that are comfortable and make you feel beautiful when you wear them.  They are inspired largely by the clothing of the 1960's and 70's, with a definite "California vibe" to them.  All of my pieces are made locally on the Central Coast of California by really cool people, which makes it even more fun!

Customer Spotlight: Velvet California

What keeps you inspired to create?

Meeting women, hearing their stories, and seeing their style.  When I see what wearing a good outfit does to someone's demeanor, it makes me so happy. I love clothing with a story...and to get to be part of someone's story is a huge honor to me!  To me, clothing is art, but art that goes with us everywhere we go and becomes part of the memories we create and the moments we treasure.  That inspires me to make pieces that are part of great moments in women's lives.

Customer Spotlight: Velvet California

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

Labeling is a very important detail to me.  While I want my pieces to feel unique and have that "small batch" kind of feel to them, I also wanted a label that is beautiful and special.  To me, the label is what tells me what the quality of an item is.  I can tell right away if something has been well made or is mass produced by the label that is used.  I saw Wunderlabel on Instagram on another product, and instantly I knew that it was exactly the right fit for my brand.  Even though I'm just starting out, I've already gotten a huge response from women complimenting the quality and look of my label!

Customer Spotlight: Velvet California

Customer Spotlight: Shevelkin Designs

We are really excited about our next customer spotlight! Stephanie from Shevelkin Designs has taken upcycling and her love of coffee and combined them to create cozies, coasters, brew mats and wallets. Made from upcycled green bean coffee sacks and other previously used buttons and fabric, these items are not only functional but look amazing too. We love the sleek black Shevelkin Designs woven label and we’re proud to be her label provider.

Introducing Shevelkin Designs!

Customer Spotlight: Shevelkin Designs

Tell us about Shevelkin Designs.

An artist at heart, having my own business has been a dream of mine for years. It wasn't until a year and half ago that I was able to focus on my creations and create Shevelkin Designs LLC. Officially launched in October of 2016, I started with my adjustable upcycled cozies. Before opening my own business I was working in the coffee industry where I saw opportunities to create functional art from upcycled/repurposed coffee green bean burlap bags. My first creation was my coffee cozy which I originally created for myself and quickly realized how helpful it was and wanted to share with everyone. Every item I create is unique, no two are alike because they are created from repurposed materials.

Customer Spotlight: Shevelkin Designs

What keeps you inspired to create?

My family is my inspiration. As a new(er) mommy, I see opportunity to create items that I would find helpful in my daily life. I love the process from drawing and planning, to prototyping, and finally a finishing a product. Seeing a completed piece go to a loving home makes all the hard work and dedication worth it!

Customer Spotlight: Shevelkin Designs

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

Labeling my pieces was like putting the icing on the cake. I wanted a minimal, simple, and direct label which is the final, official, touch to my work. I shopped around, but no one could create what I wanted, how I wanted, and for the price like Wunderlabel could. I am extremely happy with the quality and look of my labels, I highly recommend them.

Customer Spotlight: Shevelkin Designs

Where can we find you online?

To shop all my creations go to ShevelkinDesigns.com. You can find me hanging out on Instagram, I post daily about my projects, coffee adventures, and I love to stay in contact with my followers. I am also available on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Customer Spotlight: Pacific Northwest Doe

Pacific Northwest Doe is inspired by the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and her handmade items are as cute as they are functional.

Nothing says fall like a snuggly fleece blanket or a flannel scarf, am I right?  That’s where Shelsea comes in!  Shelsea is the power and brains behind Pacific Northwest Doe which offers these fall favorites with a few antler pendant necklaces thrown in for good measure. Pacific Northwest Doe is inspired by the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest and her handmade items are as cute as they are functional.  We love Shelsea’s positive attitude and as she puts it, “Your purchase is what keeps moms like me going and I thank you for that.”

We are thrilled to be the label provider for this small business and we are happy to introduce you to Pacific Northwest Doe!

Customer Spotlight: Pacific Northwest Doe

Tell us about your shop Pacific Northwest Doe.

I've always been pretty crafty and there was a year where I was super broke and couldn't afford to buy everyone Christmas gifts, so I just started making things. Word got out about some scarves that I had made and I was asked to make more for friends and family to give as gifts. It kinda took off from there.

I'm a stay at home mom and I love being able to raise my boys while still being able to do something I love. I understand money doesn't grow on trees and I believe in quality at an affordable price, therefore I price all of my items way below average. I truly just enjoy making these things because let's face it, kids are expensive.

Customer Spotlight: Pacific Northwest Doe

What keeps you inspired to create?

My family. My kids are always wanting to help me pick out designs and I love that because it gives me an idea of what kids are into. Also, the fact that so many people around me are having kids. I get to go to town on baby blankets and other handmade gifts. That's always fun!

Customer Spotlight: Pacific Northwest Doe

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

Having the right woven label for my items does a lot. It makes me go from just another handmade item to a handmade item with a name. My label is bright so it stands out on my products and catches the eye. People remember me that way. Labeling gives me a professional look and it's easier for customers to come back when they can remember me.

Customer Spotlight: Frontier Millinery

Sometimes you come across something or someone that really moves you and leaves an impression. That is how we felt when we saw the beautiful handmade hats that Allison Lyndes from Frontier Millinery is creating. These gorgeous pieces are one-of-a-kind and truly a work of art. There is something so inspirational about hearing the story of someone who truly loves what they do and for Allison, hats are where it’s at. We are thrilled to be able to supply the woven labels and be associated with such a remarkable company! Introducing Frontier Millinery!

Frontier Millinery hats

Tell us about Frontier Millinery

Costume and fashion have been a huge fascination for me, and when I was studying Theatre in college I took a millinery course. To say it ‘clicked’ is an understatement! Ever since then, I haven’t been able to keep hats off my mind (or my head). Frontier Millinery is where I take all my ideas and bits of inspiration and turn them into wearable creations. Hats bring me such joy whether in creating them, studying them, or wearing them, and I want to bring that joy to others too!

I create lots of pieces out of my own inspiration, but I also do quite a bit of custom work as well. I’ve had such fun clients, everyone from theatrical costume designers, to historical re-enactors, to cosplayers, to people just looking for a hat to wear everyday. (My hats have gone to some really fun events and places all over the world – I’m honestly a little jealous of them!) Every single client is different. Collaborating on custom work is the most rewarding challenge, and I enjoy the hard work of creating the perfect piece for each person. Someone once remarked that it was interesting watching customers choose hats from my booth at a large craft show. He said it was like watching people find their soul mates. That stuck with me! Now I often see my hats as little pieces of personalities – and sometimes those are ones I just haven’t met yet! It’s always so satisfying to create that perfect match between the person and the hat. My clients really are the heart and soul of Frontier Millinery.

Head band

What keeps you inspired to create?

My hands. I believe greatly in the integrity of using your hands to create. A life well-lived, for me, is all about having well-used hands. And since life is finite, there are only so many things I’ll be able to create in my lifetime – so I really strive to craft pieces I’m truly passionate about.

As for creative inspiration, you’d be surprised at what sparks my hats sometimes! We live in a pretty amazing world with potential all around us. I’ve always had a curious mind and an eye for detail, a little bit fascinated by everything. In making hats I get to play with art, mathematics, history, science, and more! I never know what will inspire me from project to project, but I always strive to create work that challenges me and drives me to new materials, techniques, and discoveries. I love to create one-of-a-kind pieces because it forever pushes me to continue thinking and learning. Though sometimes, of course, I find an inspiration I really enjoy and linger in a particular style (Art Deco is a recurring theme the last couple years), and sometimes I just want to make something fun and pretty! Studious or playful, I love it all.

Custom labels

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

It’s the perfect finishing touch! I want clients to see my label and know that I’ve worked meticulously on every part of their hat, right down to the last detail. A label acts as my signature when I release a piece into the world, and Wunderlabel makes that signature look professional and beautiful!

Luckily for us, Frontier Millinery has an Etsy shop! You can also check out all the eye candy on Facebook and Instagram. Or go to their website to find out more.

Thank you so much for sharing with us Allison!

We love showcasing our talented customers!

We're excited to share our next Customer Spotlight with you! CupcakePups is making quality dog collars that are not only functional but fun too - we couldn't be more proud to be their logo label.provider. From sports team themes to holiday prints to fun graphic designs, CupcakePups is taking collar making to a whole new level.

Cynthia, owner and designer of CupcakePups, has been volunteering with Canine Companions for Independence since 2009 and loves having puppies in her home once a year. I'm sure those sweet puppies are the source of great inspiration.

Introducing Cynthia and CupcakePups!

Customer Spotlight: CupcakePups Dog Collars

Tell us about CupcakePups.

CupcakePups creates handmade quality and stylish dog collars in 100+ designs for dogs of all sizes. My love for collars started with my own collar addiction. My two dogs, Kashi and Zaire, needed a collar for every holiday. I would go on a mission around town trying to find cute collars. I was never satisfied with the limited options.

July of 2014, I set out to sew my own collars for Independence Day. I posted my finish product on Facebook for my friends to see. Several of my dog friends asked to buy collars and before I knew it, I was trying to sew as many Fourth of July collars as I could. By September, CupcakePups was created.

Customer Spotlight - Bashful Birdie Handmade

We love connecting with our customers. There are so many talented and creative people out there and we feel so lucky to be able to see their handwork every single day. Plus, we get to ooh and aah at all the beautifully designed labels, hang-tags, ribbons and stickers being ordered – it's really fun!

This got us thinking. How can we share these beautiful things with others? Wouldn't it be even more fun to share and inspire?

That is how we came up with our new blog feature: Customer Spotlight. Each blog post will feature one of our awesome customers and their unique story. Of course we'll have lots of pretty photographs and hopefully loads of inspiration to go along with it.

Our first Customer Spotlight is Lisa from Bashful Birdie Handmade. Her custom printed logo label is absolutely adorable and suits her brand just right. We love the vintage vibe her pieces lend and the earthy colors she uses. Lisa's creations are lovely and it doesn't hurt that she has a gorgeous baby boy to model those sweet bonnets.

Introducing Lisa and Bashful Birdie Handmade!

Tell us about your shop Bashful Birdie Handmade.

I mostly make things for babies such as hats/bonnets, quilts, and fabric toys. I’ve been sewing for a long time, but I started making things for babies shortly after I found out I was expecting my son. There was actually a spurt of babies among family and friends and I loved making handmade gifts for all of them. I made a few quilts and bonnets for the new babies while on maternity leave. I have both sewn and crocheted things in my shop. I have slowed down a little since I had my son, but I get a chance every now and then to bust out my crochet hooks or my sewing machine.  I started this brand way back in 2009 making weird stuffed art toys and now I’ve shifted gears and I’m moving towards gifts for babies/toddlers, specifically hats and eventually quilts and toys. Unfortunately, I don't have much on my shop now since this is a fairly recent shift, but I'm still creating when I can.

Retro inspired fabric and style make these bonnets something special.

What keeps you inspired to create?

Honestly, I just love handmade gifts. I love receiving them and also making them for others. So I was inspired to offer my skills to those who want to also gift a handmade item, but just don’t have the time or skills themselves. Completing crafts has a real sense of accomplishment. I work as a front-end developer/designer which means I’m on my computer all day, so getting away and actually making a physical thing is a joy. When I'm not working, but still attached to my computer, I'm probably on Pinterest getting inspiration (I mean for hours. Who isn't?) or designing some patterns to get printed on Spoonflower. I have several fabric designs that I've used in quilts or to make bonnets and tote bags. That is another level of accomplishment for sure. It's so amazing to take a fabric I designed and turn it into something then add a label with my brand on it.

What does labeling your handmade items do for your business?

I believe labeling has created a solid brand and makes me seem more of a professional. When I see my logo label on a finished item I made, I feel like I could see that item in a store somewhere.  One thing I’ve really wanted to do is to be in a craft fair and I think labels are very important to success in that market. If someone buys one of my items and they take it home, they won’t forget where they bought it. They can look me up online long after the fair, long after they tossed away any printed material I gave them because that label is there as a reminder. I wanted to add a label to my projects because I felt like I needed to “sign” them much like you would a painting. Most of the things I make, especially the quilts, are heirloom quality and are meant to be passed along through generations. Sewing and quilting is an art just like painting and I want people to know who made that quilt or hat for many generations.
